School Start and Dismissal Times:
October 2025
Dear Bulldog Students, Families, and Friends,
October is such a vibrant month at Sandpoint High School! The crisp air, colorful leaves, and energy of our students remind us of the many reasons we are proud to be Bulldogs. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping your child succeed—your support of attendance, academics, and activities is what makes SHS such a strong and caring community.
We begin this month with two exciting Professional Development days focused on differentiated instruction. Our goal is to ensure that every learner—whether they need extra support or additional challenges—finds success in the classroom. By equipping teachers with strategies to adapt lessons for a variety of learners, we are directly investing in your child’s future. We know that no two students learn the same way. Differentiation allows teachers to tailor lessons to strengths and needs, ensuring that all students can grow and thrive. We are excited to see this training come alive in classrooms across SHS.
Tonight is our Homecoming Game against Lake City, and we couldn’t be more excited! Homecoming is one of our most cherished traditions, bringing together students, alumni, families, and community members.
We want this night to highlight everything that makes SHS special:
The dedication of our students involved in athletics and activities
The spirit of our students and alumni
The support of our families and community
As we cheer on the Bulldogs, we ask everyone to join us in showing positivity, pride, and good sportsmanship. Let’s make this Homecoming a celebration of what it means to be part of the Bulldog family.
To wrap up a week of school spirit, StuCo will be hosting a Homecoming dance at The Hive on Saturday. We can’t wait to see all the smiles, dancing, and student involvement!
We are thrilled to announce the launch of Flex Friday opportunities later this month. Flex Fridays are designed to reward students who are meeting expectations in attendance, grades, and behavior, while still keeping Friday as a regular school day.
Here’s how it works:
On October 15, families will receive an email if their student qualifies to flex Friday.
To participate, students must also have parent permission.
Students who qualify may flex 1–2 Fridays per month.
Fridays are not optional—students who do not qualify are expected to attend as usual.
This is a wonderful way to recognize student success while encouraging all Bulldogs to work toward clear goals.
At the start of the year, we met with each grade level to share our renewed attendance expectations. We know that life can be unpredictable, but consistent attendance is one of the most important predictors of student success. Students can still be excused for illness or school-sponsored activities, and even with a 90% attendance rate, they may have up to 10 excused absences per semester.
Your support in encouraging punctuality and consistent attendance helps your child build strong habits of responsibility, time management, and perseverance.
We are grateful for the many ways you support your students and our school—whether that’s cheering at games, helping with homework, or encouraging your child to stay focused on their goals. Together, we are creating a culture of learning, connection, and Bulldog pride.
I look forward to seeing you at Homecoming and at many other events this fall. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s learning journey.
With gratitude,
Principal Jacki Crossingham
