The definition of truancy is: The act or condition of being absent without permission. Truancy letters are sent home weekly. After reviewing the letter and speaking with your child you feel the information is incorrect please call me at 263-3034 ext. #1 to discuss or simply excuse the absence. There are several reasons a student may be marked absent but are actually here. They could be in the counseling center, in the office ill, were tardy and the teacher did not change the attendance. We try for error free recording but do make mistakes at times. Thank you for your patience and please feel free to call me with questions.

Due to our block schedule, if a student misses a day they only miss 4 out of 8 classes. Most of the teachers post homework assignments on their websites so students can access them if they are absent. We will be glad to request homework/classroom handouts on the third day of absence. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to pick the homework up from the attendance office, as a reminder will not be sent.
